An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
If your roof is showing signs of age, we recommend that you have renovations done as soon as possible. Indeed, if you delay renovating your roof, you risk severely damaging your home’s structure. Installing a new roof protects and enhances the value of your home.
Here are some signs of age you shouldn’t overlook:
Raised exposed shingles
When the corners of the exposed shingles start to lift, shingles become less resistant to the action of ice and wind. This problem often occurs on old roofs where there is an accumulation of moisture in the attic.
Curling
Bulging at the bottom edge of the exposed part of the shingles is a normal sign of age. The bulging part is vulnerable to the action of wind, hail or ice.
Bare areas
Stone pellets detach from the surface of the shingles as the asphalt hardens over the years. Small cracks sometimes appear on their surface and pellets may accumulate in your gutters.
Broken shingles
After violent winds or work on the roof, there may be broken, torn or missing exposed shingles. This type of issue should be repaired immediately since the watertightness of the shingle system is compromised.
